Why do I receive 'Another version of this product is already installed'?

« Go Back

When trying to uninstall or update Remotely Anywhere, LogMeIn, or LogMeIn Hamachi, you receive this error:
Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue.

This issue is typically due to a corruption or inconsistency in the local database Windows uses to keep track of installed software.

Important: Use care when modifying the Windows Registry.
  1. Press the Windows key R. The Run box is displayed.
  2. Type regedit and click Ok.
  3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\
  4. Click on each key, until you find one that has Product Name set as RemotelyAnywhereLogMeIn, or LogMeIn Hamachi in the right pane.
  5. Delete the selected key.
  6. Reboot the PC.
  7. Install the software with a fresh msi.
After the installation is complete, you can now uninstall the software using the Windows Control Panel.
