How do I create/remove an Access Code?

LogMeIn requires the use of a password.  If you do not have one, you can create one.  In order to do this, you should be physically sitting at the computer where LogMeIn is installed.

  2. Type the following to open the Windows User Accounts screen:
    • On Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8: control userpasswords2.
    • On Windows 2000: control userpasswords.
  1. Click Add.
  2. Depending on your Windows version, do the following:
  • On Windows 8 computers:
  1. Click Sign in without a Microsoft account.
  2. Click Local account.
  3. In the user name box, type exactly: LogMeInRemoteUser
  4. In the password screen set a password that is at least 8 characters long, keep in mind that it is case sensitive.  This password will be the Access Code.

  4. You will be asked "What Level of Access do you want to Grant this User?"  Select Other and make sure Administrator is selected.

In the future, you will use the password you created as the access code when you connect to the computer.

Important:
Do not create an access code if the host computer is on a domain.
