Answer

You may receive the following error message when using the iOS app:

Warning - The device is running out of free memory.
To reduce memory usage, try switching to a different screen resolution on the remote computer.

Before launching the app:

  1. Force Safari and apps like iTunes to quit.   While the app is open, hold down the Home button until the app exits.  You may need to hold down the button for up to 10 seconds.  Alternatively, you can restart the device.
  2. Disable Push (this means Mail won't run in the background), and set fetch to manually.  You can change this in Settings > Fetch New Data.

Once you have changed these settings, you should launch the LogMeIn app.  You can then further adjust settings to improve performance.

Lower the remote screen's resolution in the RC settings
You can only change this setting during an active remote session.

  1. On the main remote control screen, tap the Gear (Settings) icon.
    The Settings page is displayed.
  2. Tap Resolution.
The list of available screen resolution settings is displayed.
  3. Tap the preferred screen resolution.
  4. Tap Settings.  This setting is applied to the host computer.  Anyone sitting at the host will immediately experience the resolution change.
  5. Tap Done to return to the remote session.

The new setting will be in effect.  When you end the remote control session, the host computer's screen resolution will return to its previous state.  This setting will be remembered and applied the next time you connect to the same computer.

Change your Color Quality settings
This is especially useful when Remote Controlling multiple monitors and switching to 'all monitors' mode.  Again, you can only change this setting during an active remote session.

  1. On the main remote control screen, tap the Gear (Settings) icon.
    The Settings page is displayed.
  2. Tap Color Quality.
    • To improve performance, tap Grayscale or Low Quality
    • For better image quality, tap Medium Quality or High quality.
      We recommend using Auto.
  3. Tap Settings > Done to save your settings.  This setting will be remembered and applied the next time you connect to the same computer.

If the steps above do not work, we do have a workaround.

  1. While sitting at the host computer to be remote controlled, drop the resolution down to something lower.
  2. From the iPhone, use the app to log into the the computer.
  3. Change the Remote Screen's resolution in Settings; also change the Color Quality if needed.
  4. Click Done, and then exit the Remote Session.  This setting change will be remembered and applied the next time you connect to the same computer.
  5. Finally, on the host, you can change the resolution back to the same higher resolution that is desired.

You should now be able to use the app without receiving any warning messages.
