Why do I receive Backup Failures with a FAT32 Storage drive?

« Go Back

Information

Answer

If you are trying to run a backup that has more then 16,383 files and store it to a FAT32 hard drive you may receive the following error during the backup transfer process:

‘Error from Connection - From server side: can't create file - The directory or file cannot be created. (82)’

This is a limitation with the FAT32 file structure.  Reformat the storage hard drive to NTFS to resolve this issue.
