Answer

Symptom

Kaspersky reads a safe file as malicious or blocks a file from running.

Resolution

Solution 1: Update the AV base definitions

Note: AV base is Kaspersky's term for virus definitions.

From within LogMeIn Central

  1. Login to LogMeIn Central.
  2. Select Anti-virus on the left hand side.
  3. Select the host PC that you want to update.
  4. Click the Actions button at the top of the list of hosts.
  5. Select Update virus definition.
The update should begin to search and retrieve any new AV bases.

From The Host PC

  1. On your host computer, open the Kaspersky console by clicking the K icon in your system tray (usually in the lower-right corner of your screen).
  2. Click the Protection and Control tab.
  3. Click Tasks.
  4. Click Update.
  5. Click Start Update
The update should begin to search and retrieve any new AV bases.

Solution 2: Add a false positive file or folder to the Exclusion list

  1. On your host computer, open the Kaspersky console by clicking the K icon in your system tray (usually in the lower-right corner of your screen).
  2. Click the Settings tab.
  3. Click Anti-Virus protection.
  4. Under Scan exclusions and trusted applications, select Settings...
  5. On the Scan Exclusions tab, select Add.
  6. Click select file or folder > Browse... and navigate to the file or folder you want to add as an exclusion.
  7. Click OK.
On the next scan, that file or folder should now be omitted by Kaspesrky.
